Learning is
incomplete if a school does not include celebrations of all our rich and
colourful festivals, our country India is known for.
An
auspicious beginning in our school was the celebration of Janamashtami. The
school was decorated with marigold flowers and green mango leaves. It looked so
festive. As part of involvement of parents
we requested Mrs. Tanvi Naik, a parent to conduct the ritual part of the
festival. We had a beautifully decorated ‘jhoola’ with an idol of baby Krishna
– ‘Kanha’ in it. The puja was performed with diyas, agarbathi, kumkum. The
children were told a brief story of Lord Krishna. They pulled the ‘dor’ to
swing the jhoola. Sweets were distributed. A ‘makta’ decorated with flowers was
suspended from a rope.
